On November 20, 2019, Ibrahim Adam Mahat, a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam candidate, was discovered at Wabera School with two handwritten papers of answers for History Paper 2.
Appearing before Chief Magistrate Samuel Mungai, Mahat denied being in possession of the KCSE examination papers.
He was subsequently released on a Ksh.100,000 bond with one surety of the same amount or cash bail of Ksh.50,000.
The case will be mentioned on December 10, 2019, and the hearing is scheduled for February 27, 2020.
According to the Examinations Council Act No. 29 of 2012, a candidate found guilty of irregularity may face penalties including expulsion from the exam centre, cancellation of papers or results, and denial of entry into subsequent exams.
