Ruto's Aide Embarrassed at BBI Report Launch ¶
Deputy President William Ruto's aide, Dennis Itumbi, was left red-faced after he was removed from the main stage at the Bomas of Kenya during the launch of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) Report on November 27, 2019.
According to a video posted by the Daily Nation, Itumbi was seen shaking hands with another individual and speaking to them behind the seats occupied by President Uhuru Kenyatta, DP William Ruto, Raila Odinga, BBI task force Chairman Yusuf Haji, and Tanzania's Foreign Affairs Minister Palamagamba Kabudi.
Security details of the President were seen whisking Itumbi away from the podium to behind the curtains, sparking a flurry of reactions on social media.
Many Kenyans took to Twitter to express their amusement at the incident, with some calling Itumbi a 'keyboard warrior' and others questioning his credentials as a director in the presidency.
Itumbi has been at the center of controversy in the past, and this latest incident has only added to his woes.
Here are some of the reactions from Twitter:
- "Dennis Itumbi is a masquerader who passes himself as a director in the presidency, never mind he was recently charged in court but no one told him to 'resign'. Because, really, resign from what?" - @Disembe
- "Itumbi being manhandled like a village cassava thief is the most hilarious thing I've watched today. Rodent." - @gabrieloguda
- "Security: Itumbi get off the podium Itumbi: I work in Harambee House annex and I have a HSC medal Security: Hiyo ujinga kaambie watu wa twitter" - @Ohta_Ryota
Itumbi's removal from the main stage has sparked a heated debate on social media, with many calling for him to be held accountable for his actions.
