On November 27, 2019, Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha released a report detailing examination malpractices in this year's KCSE exams.
According to the report, a total of 21 cases of examination malpractices were reported, with 90 mobile phones seized from busted examiners.
Prof Magoha stated that the phones were intended to aid in cheating, emphasizing the severity of the issue.
The examination irregularities were reported in various counties, including Nairobi, Kisii, Migori, Homa Bay, Wajir, and Garissa, despite the Ministry's efforts to flag over 300 schools and monitor them for potential cheating.
Prof Magoha also announced that he would be handing over the names of two police officers who were bribed with Sh2,000 to aid cheating to the Interior Ministry for action.
With 699,745 candidates sitting for this year's Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education exams, marking is set to begin on Thursday.
