On November 27, 2019, the Muhoroni Stadium received clearance to host low-risk Kenyan Premier League (KPL) matches following an inspection by the KPL Stadia Safety and Security Committee.

Chemelil Sugar Complex, which has been struggling financially, has relocated its home games to the stadium. The team's first match at the new venue was against Mathare United, which they lost 4-1.

The stadium's pitch, however, is not suitable for high-risk matches, forcing Chemelil to consider alternative venues such as the Moi Stadium in Kisumu or the Green Stadium in Kericho for games involving AFC Leopards or Gor Mahia.

Chemelil is currently at the bottom of the KPL log with just a point after 10 outings and has issued two walkovers. The team faces Wazito on Saturday at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
