Senator Kipchumba Murkomen Heckled at BBI Report Launch

On November 27, 2019, Senator Kipchumba Murkomen was heckled at the BBI report launch for accusing the organisers of bias and excluding those who hold divergent views.

Murkomen claimed that the BBI report launch organisers planned to leave out those who hold divergent views, and that the master of ceremonies, Junet Mohamed, was running the event as a political rally.

Junet had previously joked that the forum was not meant to discuss Jubilee party issues, but Murkomen took issue with this, saying that it was a clear indication of bias.

"I will like to invite Senator Kipchumba Murkomen. Today, we are discussing the BBI report. If there is any problem with the Jubilee government, it is upon them to sort it out. We are not party to it," Junet said, alluding to two Jubilee factions.

Murkomen's comments sparked a heated debate, with some attendees jeering and booing him while asking him to leave the podium. However, it took the intervention of Senator Yusuf Haji to restore order, and Murkomen was able to continue his speech with a more restrained tone.
