East African Portland Cement (EAPC) has pushed back the release of its audited financial results for the year ended 30 June 2019 until next year, citing the government's slow pace in appointing a new Auditor General.

According to Sheila Kahuki, the company's Board secretary, the delay is a direct result of the government's failure to appoint a new Auditor General by 30 November 2019, as previously indicated.

As a state-controlled company, EAPC requires the Auditor General's approval to publish its audited financial results.

With the appointment of the Auditor General now unlikely to happen by 30 November 2019, the company has set a new deadline for the publication of its results: 20 February 2020, subject to the appointment of the Auditor-General.
