The 2019 Safaricom East African Classic Rally is set to kick off on November 26, 2019, at the Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort in Mombasa, with drivers facing a challenging 10-day competition through Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and back to Mombasa.

Renée Brinkerhoff, a seasoned competitor from the USA, is among the over 20 drivers participating in the event, which will cover 24 stages and 4,500 kilometers across the two countries.

Brinkerhoff, who is racing her 1956 Porsche 356A rally car, has competed on four continents as part of the Porsche 356 World Rally Tour and is aiming to finish in the top 15.

For her first African rally, Brinkerhoff will be teaming up with her daughter Juliette as her navigator, while Gilberto Sandretto will be navigating for Fabrizia Pons.

The rally will revolve around Voi, Arusha, and Tanga, with each day featuring three competitive stages and transport or liaison sections.

The contest covers 4,500km, with 1,500km of competitive distance across 24 stages in Kenya and Tanzania.

The event ends on December 6, with the longest stage covering 160kms and the shortest will be 60kms.
