On November 23, a disturbing scene unfolded at a home in Kasarani, Nairobi, when a 44-year-old man, James Kiiru, hurled insults at his mother, Jacinta Wanjiru Kinuthia, for denying him food and inheritance.
According to reports, Kiiru returned home at around 10pm and knocked on his mother's door, but she did not open immediately. Feeling frustrated, he allegedly shattered the window panes and threatened to break in and kill everyone.
Kiiru was subsequently charged with creating disturbance and breach of peace. He denied the charges before senior principal magistrate Angelo Kithinji of Makadara law courts and was freed on a cash bail of Sh20,000.
The case will be heard from March 25.
