On November 25, 2019, Harambee Starlets lifted their first ever Cecafa Senior Women's Challenge title in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Sensational striker Jentrix Shikangwa, who scored a second half brace, has urged the government to give the team a befitting financial support.

Shikangwa, the 2019 Cecafa top-scorer, expressed her sentiments upon the team's arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Tuesday morning. The team was treated to a colorful reception and was driven through the city streets aboard a bus with a huge banner reading: 'CECAFA WOMEN'S CHAMPIONS 2019.'

Speaking during the luncheon at the Utalii Hotel, Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Nick Mwendwa praised the gallant Starlets for their heroics. He revealed the intentions to have Kenya bid for the African Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) hosting rights in 2022.

Shikangwa's sentiments were echoed by Mwendwa, who reiterated his concerns on the government's seriousness in regard to supporting the team. The players will now break the camp to unite with their respective Kenyan Women Premier League (KWPL) clubs before hitting the camp early next year for the 2020 Africa Women Cup of nations (AWCON) qualifiers.
