On November 26, 2019, police in Riaranga village, Nyamira County, arrested a 70-year-old man suspected of being involved in the circumcision of his two granddaughters.
The septuagenarian was taken into custody following a tip-off from members of the public, according to Magombo Police boss Geoffrey Makoro.
Police stormed the man's homestead and found the two minors, aged 7 and 8, having undergone the 'cut.'
The man and his son, the girls' father, were arrested, but the latter managed to escape with handcuffs on.
Mr. Makoro stated that police are currently hunting down the escapee as investigations continue.
