Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has revealed the details of a secret meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta, where they negotiated the 'handshake' political deal on 9th March 2018.
Speaking at State House, Nairobi, during the presentation of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report, Raila said he and President Uhuru drove themselves individually to a secret venue where they talked for 19 hours.
The BBI report proposes the reintroduction of the Prime Minister's position and far-reaching electoral changes, including the President appointing an MP from the largest party or coalition in Parliament as Prime Minister.
President Uhuru Kenyatta corroborated Raila's story, saying he has never had an honest and insightful conversation with anyone else like he has done with Raila Odinga.
Others present at the meeting included Deputy President William Ruto, several governors, and other leaders. The actual BBI report will be released by tomorrow.
