On November 26, 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta received the Building Bridges Initiative task force report at State House, Nairobi, marking the culmination of over a year of work by the taskforce team.
The report is a product of the handshake deal between President Kenyatta and Opposition leader Raila Odinga, which was signed on March 9, 2018, at the steps of Harambee House.
The handshake deal followed months of violent chaos, including the opposition leader's successful contest of the 2017 presidential election results and his subsequent boycott of the repeat elections, which he claimed were designed to be rigged.
Opposition leader Raila Odinga would later stage a mock swearing-in ceremony of himself as the people's president at Uhuru Park, sparking varied opinions among leaders.
The report will be publicly unveiled on Wednesday at the Bomas of Kenya.
