On November 26, 2019, a disturbing video emerged of a man assaulting a female security guard at a residential estate in Komarock, Nairobi.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) identified the suspect as 30-year-old Justus Kamoja.
Following the video's release, the DCI announced that Kamoja had been arrested and was set to be presented in court.
“The 30-year-old suspect will be arraigned in court once necessary police action is complete. Many thanks to all those that contacted us,” said the DCI on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the video, the altercation began when the man opened the estate's gate against the guard's wishes.
She attempted to close the gate, which seemed to upset the man, leading to a verbal altercation.
However, the guard ignored him and proceeded to make a second attempt at closing the gate, prompting the man to quickly close the distance between them and start assaulting her in a visible fit of rage.
He slapped her repeatedly, but the female guard didn't retaliate, instead keeping moving away.
Two unidentified people emerged from the vehicle the man was driving and attempted to intervene, but the enraged man returned to the vehicle and sped off, leaving his passengers behind.
