Former Premier League player Robbie Savage has made a surprise return to competitive football, eight years after hanging up his boots.

At the age of 45, Savage featured for tenth-tier English side Stockport Town in a league match, showing he still has a passion for the game.

He made his debut as a substitute and helped his team hold onto the lead with 20 minutes left, before Stockport Town eventually defeated FC Owestry Town 3-2.

Savage, who had 89 yellow cards during his playing career, is the seventh player with the highest number of yellow cards in Premier League history.

He played for several top-tier clubs, including Leicester City, Blackburn, and Derby County, and won 39 caps for Wales.

After retiring from professional football in 2011, Savage went on to become a pundit and appeared on a popular TV show, Strictly Come Dancing.
