Manchester City assistant manager Mikel Arteta has been tipped to take over at Arsenal if Unai Emery is sacked, but his current boss Pep Guardiola is in no rush to lose him.

Guardiola, speaking on November 26, 2019, stated that Emery is the manager of Arsenal and that Arteta will be a manager sooner or later.

Arteta, who joined Guardiola's staff three years ago, has been backed for the job by former Arsenal captain Arsene Wenger.

Guardiola expressed his desire for Arteta to stay with Manchester City, citing his 'incredible value' to the team.

“Unai Emery is the manager of Arsenal,” Guardiola told reporters. “Of course (Arteta) will be a manager sooner or later. We are going to finish the season but in the future I don’t know what’s going to happen.”

Guardiola also praised Arteta's work ethic, saying, “He is an incredible human being and works a lot. I said after a few months together he would be a manager. He’s already a manager — he behaves like a manager.”
