According to a recent report by the Legatum Institute, a UK-based think-tank, Kenyans' living conditions have improved under President Uhuru Kenyatta's leadership compared to his predecessor Mwai Kibaki.
The report, released on November 25, 2019, notes that the Jubilee government has boosted the business environment, with a score of 59.2 compared to 50.3 in 2009 when Kibaki was in power.
Kenya's prosperity index has improved to 49.3 from 42.1 in 2009, due to increased access to piped water, electricity, clean fuel, and digital payments.
However, the report also notes that Kenyans' financial situation has worsened during Uhuru's leadership, with a score of 39.3 in 2019 from 37.5 in 2009.
The country has dropped from position 101 in 2009 to 135 in 2019 out of 167 countries on economic equality.
Despite the report's findings, netizens have expressed skepticism, with many calling for Uhuru to resign over the country's economic woes.
