Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) recruitment, a highly anticipated exercise, is finally set to kick off on Wednesday, November 27, 2019, at the Kenya Army Defense headquarters in Nairobi from 8:00am.
The launch will be presided over by Vice Chief of Defense Forces Lieutenant General Robert Kibochi, according to a statement by KDF.
The recruitment exercise had earlier been scheduled to begin last month but was cancelled following a clash between members of the Parliamentary Defense and Foreign Relations Committee and Defense CS Raychelle Omamo over recruitment centers.
The committee had argued that hundreds of youth would be locked out if the exercise was conducted at the national level, and instead advocated for it to be done at the sub-county level.
Following the cancellation, the Defense ministry urged candidates who had already applied earlier to re-apply in line with the new dates, which were announced as November 27 to December 16, 2019.
Recruitment for general service officers, cadets, specialist officers, tradesmen and tradeswomen will be done at the Defense headquarters, while those shortlisted will be notified through newspaper advertisements from November 16-20.
General duty recruits and Defense Forces constables, however, will be recruited by KDF teams at sub-county level, with those who make the cut being notified from December 23-29 in the local dailies.
