On November 26, 2019, a shocking incident occurred in Papua New Guinea when a charter plane was hijacked by armed men.
The plane, operated by Tropicair, was refuelling in Gasmata, on the island of New Britain, when eight armed men approached and forced the pilot to take off.
Fortunately, there were no other passengers on board, and the pilot was not injured during the ordeal.
According to Matthew Brutnall, a company spokesman for Tropicair, the armed men stole the baggage and cargo on board the aircraft and fled the area.
The Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary has confirmed that they are investigating the incident.
