On November 26, 2019, Labour Cabinet Secretary, Ukur Yatani, appointed Mr Antony Omerikwa as Chief Executive officer for the National Social Security Fund (NSSF).
Mr Omerikwa's tenure as the fund's CEO is scheduled to last three years. He previously served as the acting managing trustee of the firm for the past four years and eight months.
The National Social Security Fund is a Kenyan government agency responsible for the collection, safekeeping, responsible investment and distribution of retirement funds of employees in both the formal and informal sectors of the Kenyan Economy.
Mr Omerikwa's appointment comes at a time when the NSSF has faced challenges such as layoffs and late disbursements, as reported by Kenyan Wall Street and NSSF's partnership with M-PESA in a cashless drive.
