On November 26, 2019, a disturbing video surfaced online, showing a female security guard being assaulted by a civilian in Nairobi's Eastlands area.
The incident occurred at Komarock Estate Phase 5A, where the guard was attempting to prevent a mini-van from entering the gated community.
Passengers from the van intervened after the driver slapped the guard multiple times, sparking outrage among online observers who condemned the driver's behavior.
Commentators called for the driver's immediate arrest, with some suggesting that a new law should be introduced to protect women in Kenya.
Meanwhile, a similar incident occurred last week at Eastmatt Supermarket in Kajiado, where a female teller was assaulted by a colleague, Ahmed Keruti Taraiya.
Taraiya was arrested over the weekend and denied any wrongdoing, despite CCTV footage capturing the assault on Ms. Sarah Atieno.
