Published on November 26, 2019, retired President Daniel Arap Moi's health has shown significant improvement since his admission to Nairobi Hospital two weeks ago.
According to his press secretary Lee Njiru, who is also the spokesperson of the Moi family, the former President is still under medical care at the facility but is expected to be discharged before December.
"Mzee Moi, who is being attended to by a team of medics led by his physician Dr. David Silverstein, has recovered. However, due to his old age, his doctors feel he should build up his energy before he can be discharged," Njiru said.
He added that Moi's medical team is being extra cautious with his care to ensure full recovery, and that the former President is getting better each day.
"We are very hopeful that in the next few days, he will be discharged to return to the care and comfort of his home," Njiru said, crediting Kenyans' prayers for Moi's recovery.
President Moi, who recently celebrated his 95th birthday, was readmitted to the hospital's VIP wing on November 9th, just two days after he had been discharged.
He had spent most of his time at the facility in the past two months after reportedly developing breathing problems.
