Kenyan singer Timmy Tdat has joined forces with Boondocks Gang on a new song, Kimangoto, which is taking the music scene by storm.
Released a few days ago, the song has been receiving massive airplay on both local TV and radio stations.
Initially, I was skeptical about collaborations between new-age artists and those who've been in the game for a bit longer, but Timmy Tdat's Kimangoto with Boondocks Gang has changed my mind.
Boondocks Gang's music is a perfect blend of Gengetone and traditional Kenyan music, and when they came together with Timmy Tdat, the result was a masterpiece.
Ex Ray and Odi Wa Muranga's flow and rhymes in this jam are undeniable, but Edu Maddox's contribution is often underrated.
Timmy Tdat's style is similar to the youngsters in Boondocks Gang, making it hard to tell who's who if you didn't know their faces.
One thing that stands out in this song is the beat, courtesy of Vicky Pon Dis, which is infectious and will have you dancing the next time you hear it.
However, the video concept, although dope, could have been better if they hadn't picked a school as a location and put on uniforms, given the sensitive nature of the lyrics.
Watch Kimangoto below and tell us what you think.
