Harambee Starlets Win Ceacafa 2019 Title ¶
Harambee Starlets have been crowned the champions of the Ceacafa 2019 tournament after defeating Tanzania 2-0 in the final match held at Chamazi Grounds in Dar es Salaam on November 25, 2019.
The team's victory marked their first time winning the title, and they did it in style by beating the defending champions.
Starlets' Jentrix Shikangwa was the star of the show, scoring both goals for her team. She was introduced as a substitute and made a significant impact on the game, scoring the first goal in the 20th minute and the second in the 88th minute.
Shikangwa's impressive performance earned her the best player award, and she was also named the top scorer of the tournament.
Before facing Tanzania in the final, Harambee Starlets had won all their group stage matches, with a 2-0 win over Ethiopia, a 12-0 thrashing of Djibouti, a 3-0 victory over Uganda, and a 1-0 win over Burundi.
The team's coach and players have been praised for their outstanding performance, with the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) president, Nick Mwendwa, congratulating them on their achievement.
Other notable mentions include Michael Olunga, who scored seven goals in a single match, and Eliud Kipchoge, who was named the best male athlete of the year.
