Published on November 25, 2019, Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen has threatened to block the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report unless Raila Odinga apologizes for his violent actions during elections.

Murkomen, a key ally to the Deputy President, stated that he has marshalled support from a number of leaders with a sound support base, and that if Raila Odinga does not apologize, his BBI report will sink into an abyss.

He criticized Odinga for utterly failing to meet the threshold of statesmanship, saying that it is primarily because of him that Kenya has stagnated economically all this while.

Murkomen also faulted Odinga for his inability to act his age, saying that the opposition leader was operating as though he was in his early thirties when the reality is he is an octogenarian.

He stated that Odinga must lie low like an envelope and duly apologize for the wrongs he has done against Kenyans, if he were to endorse his BBI report.

Without the apology, Murkomen emphasized that Odinga would not be exonerated of his past mistakes, implying that his report would be outrightly dismissed.
