On a dramatic Monday evening at Moi Stadium, Kisumu, Western Stima edged KCB 1-0 in a Kenyan Premier League match.
Substitute Benson Omala struck the solitary goal in stoppage time, securing maximum points for Stima and handing KCB a disappointing loss.
Stima coach Salim Babu praised Omala's performance, saying, "Omala was the only remaining option and I am glad that he had a good performance. He scored an important goal at a time when fatigue had started creeping in."
KCB coach Zedekiah Otieno attributed their loss to poor concentration, stating, "We dominated the whole match but lost concentration during extra time. That is where Stima took advantage and scored."
Despite KCB's dominance, they failed to capitalize on their chances, with Ian Mutanda wasting a glorious opportunity in the 11th minute.
Stima had their own chances, with Abdallah Wankuru's header going wide in the 22nd minute and Fidel Origa's shot being saved by KCB's goalkeeper Joseph Okoth.
After a goalless first half, both teams made changes in the second half, but it was Omala's clever lob over an advancing Okoth in the 91st minute that decided the game.
