On November 25, 2019, Radio Africa Group made a significant move in the world of sports broadcasting by securing a deal to air English Premier League matches every Saturday evening until the end of the season.
The English Premier League, the most-watched football league in the world, has a significant following in Kenya, with fans drawn to various football clubs.
As part of the deal, fans can now live stream matches every Saturday on the Star website and follow them on the Bamba Sports and Kiss TV channels, which are available on Free to Air decoders.
The first match aired on the past weekend, with viewers able to catch the Arsenal versus Southampton match live.
According to Carol Radull, the head of Bamba Sports, the feedback from viewers was overwhelmingly positive, with fans commending Bamba and the Star across the country on the deal.
"The feedback from the viewers both on the Bamba Sport, Kiss TV, and the Star website was very good because they were able to watch the match without paying for it," Radull said.
This coming weekend, fans will be able to watch a dubbed London Derby, where Chelsea will face West Ham United at the Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
Chelsea is currently sitting in fourth place on the EPL standing table with 26 points after 13 games, while West Ham is at position 16 with 13 points after playing 13 games.
Before the match kick-off, a thirty-minute build-up will be hosted by Carolle Kamanda, featuring football analysts including former Harambee Stars players Innocent Mutiso and James Situma.
The panelists will also do a match recap of the match and the standings, including the next matches.
Fans will also be able to tweet during the game, with their comments being read on air.
Apart from watching live EPL matches, Bamba Sports and KISS TV audiences can also watch three added shows, including a mid-week show, Premier League World, and a preview show.
