Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has insisted that his team will not give up on their Premier League title aspirations, despite trailing Liverpool by nine points.

Guardiola's comments came after City's 2-1 win over Chelsea on Saturday, which moved them to third place in the table, just one point behind Leicester.

Guardiola pointed to last season's title win, when City trailed Liverpool by seven points at one stage, as evidence of his team's resilience.

“The only pressure we can have is we are going to lose the Premier League. It is not the first time in Manchester City’s 125-year history that they [may] lose the Premier League,” Guardiola said.

Guardiola also emphasized the importance of his team's spirit and performances, rather than just focusing on the result.

“What is important is to know our spirit after being 1-0 down. The way we play at Anfield and in every game. That is what I want to see in my team,” he said.

Guardiola has never managed more than four years at one club, but he has no intention of quitting City, even if they do surrender the league title.
