According to a report tabled before the county assembly, Nairobi County's revenue collection declined by 16% in three months to September, with the city hall collecting KSh 1.49 billion.

This represents a significant drop from the KSh 1.78 billion collected in a similar period in 2018/19.

Despite the decline, the city hall managed to collect KSh 648 million from parking, rates, and single business permits, although this fell short of the target of KSh 1.3 billion.

The decline in revenue is attributed to the introduction of a new internal system to collect levies and fees, which led to the termination of the contract with Jambopay.

Technical hitches in the new system caused motorists to park for free in early June and July, resulting in a loss of millions of shillings in revenue every day.
