The Kenya International Sports Film Festival has crowned the Kariobangi Sharks documentary, Against All Odds, as the Best African Film. The documentary, a Mush King Productions Film, beat over 800 competitors from around the globe to emerge as the best.
Against All Odds, the first-ever documentary produced by an East African football club, tells the inspiring story of the Kariobangi Sharks' journey from humble beginnings in the slums of Kariobangi in 2000 to their rise to prominence in the CAF Confederations Cup 2018/19 season.
Accepting the award, Kariobangi Sharks chairman expressed his delight at the recognition and promised that the club's media department would continue to produce high-quality content for their fans.
"It is a great pleasure to see that our documentary has received global recognition. We are happy to win the Best African Film award. This is indeed positive feedback and it gives us the impetus to continue doing such productions. We are committed to producing sports content and we promise our fans more," he said.
The documentary also made it to the final shortlist of the Best Short Documentary category, where it emerged as runners-up to Argentine piece, The Last Trophy.
