On November 25, 2019, Berlin FC secured their title as the Chapa Dimba Na Safaricom season 3 North Eastern regional champions after defeating Al Ansar 2:0 at the Garissa Teachers Training College Grounds.
The match was a closely contested one, with Berlin FC opening the scoresheet in the 67th minute through Noor Osman. Abdalla Marro added a second goal in the 88th minute, securing the win for the Garissa-based team.
Abdalla Marro, the top scorer for Berlin FC, expressed his gratitude to his coach and teammates, stating, 'We have been training hard in preparation for this tournament rectifying the past mistakes we made in the National Finals and this time we promise to put up a better performance to enable us come home with the main cup. I have also been crowned the most valuable player and I would like to thank my coach and my team as it was a collective effort that earned me this title.'
As the regional champions, Berlin FC walked away with KES 200,000 in cash and will represent the region at the national finals set for June 2020 at Bomu Stadium, Mombasa. The runners-up, Al Ansar, received KES 100,000 and players took home individual prizes.
The Chapa Dimba na Safaricom tournament aims to develop grassroots football and provide a platform for gifted players to be scouted and play for the National team as well as top-tier local and international teams.
