Twitter has announced the global rollout of its 'hide replies' feature, allowing users to control conversations on the platform.
First tested in the United States, Canada, and Japan, the feature aims to clean up abusive content and make Twitter more user-friendly.
As of November 21, 2019, users can now hide replies to their tweets, which can be seen by tapping a grey icon.
According to Twitter, 85% of users who hide replies are not using block or mute, and this feature is not equivalent to a delete button.
Users can also hide replies that attempt to correct misinformation or offer a fact check.
Twitter is working on new controls and clarity around conversation spaces, and will soon launch a 'hide replies endpoint' for developers to build additional conversation management tools.
