Wendy Kemunto, a victim of a horrific rape ordeal by rugby players Frank Wanyama and Alex Mahaga, has finally spoken out about her pregnancy.

As reported earlier, Kemunto was assaulted in April 2018, and the case highlighted the suspects' plea of innocence on the charges. However, in August 2019, Wanyama and Mahaga were sentenced to 15 years in prison, a decision they have since appealed.

During an interview with Grace Msalame, Kemunto shared her emotional journey of accepting the pregnancy she conceived after the assault. She revealed that she initially felt it was unfair to keep the baby but eventually chose to do so after speaking with others who had gone through similar experiences.

‘I decided that God had opted to bless me with a child despite the circumstances in which it came. It was a difficult pregnancy,’ Kemunto said.

However, the stress and media attention surrounding the case took a toll on Kemunto's mental health, leading to an unexpected miscarriage. She recalled, ‘An unexpected miscarriage. We rushed to the hospital because it had started happening (miscarriage) at home.’

Doctors later decided to remove the foetus due to its potential harm to Kemunto's health. She attributed the miscarriage to the stress and environment she was in at the time, stating, ‘The miscarriage was because of the stress and the environment I was in at the time.’

After losing her child, Kemunto revealed that she struggled to see babies, a painful reminder of her traumatic experience.
