On Sunday night, a tea picker in Kithaku, Meru county, left a bar and was immediately attacked by a gang of suspected gay criminals.
The brutal assault resulted in the victim being castrated, prompting doctors to perform extensive surgery to save his groin area.
According to local resident Cliff Kikunda, the area has experienced a series of insecurity cases in recent months, with over 10 cows and 100 sheep stolen, as well as many kitchen utensils.
However, the recent gang rape has taken a darker turn, with the criminals now targeting and sodomizing elderly men.
The victim was found with a bottle inserted in his backside, sparking outrage among the residents.
Locals are demanding swift action from the government, warning that they will take the law into their own hands if the situation is not addressed.
The town's proximity to the Mt. Kenya forest has made it a strategic hiding ground for the criminals, who hide their loot in the forest before transporting it to other towns.
Residents are calling for the government to deploy security officers to the area and establish a police station to combat the rising insecurity.
