On November 25, 2019, a dispute between Weston Hotel and the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) came to light, with the hotel refusing to vacate a piece of land along Lang'ata Road in Nairobi County.
According to a petition filed by KCAA, Weston Hotel purchased the land from Priority Limited and Monene Investment Limited in June 2007 at a price of Sh10 million, which the agency claims was deliberately undervalued.
However, Weston Hotel's management has maintained that it had paid to acquire the plot of land and that the title cannot be revoked as urged by KCAA.
Weston Hotel's General Manager, Michael Nzile, stated in an affidavit that the allegation of fraudulent acquisition and registration are unsubstantiated and nothing short of mere rumors propagated by KCAA.
Lawyer Ahmednassir Abdullahi, representing Weston Hotel, has sought the dismissal of the case, arguing that the famous Ndung'u Report did not make a conclusive decision on the issue of ownership of the suit property, which is binding on the court.
KCAA, on the other hand, has accused Weston Hotel of procuring registration as owners of the land through illegality, fraud, and corruption, and forcibly evicting the DCA and its employees.
