November 25, 2019, was a day that left me in awe of the naivety of some women. A friend shared a story about a lady who was grieving the loss of her boyfriend, who had died in a tragic incident. What made this story even more intriguing was that the lady felt she deserved the right to eulogize him in public, before his family and friends, because she had never been introduced to them officially.

According to the friend, the lady believed that the boyfriend loved her and that he had assured her that his mistake was to have married early. He allegedly told her that he was still with his wife only because of the children, and that the wife didn't know about her. The lady was convinced that the boyfriend didn't love his wife.

However, I couldn't help but think that the lady was being foolish to believe such cliché lines from a married man. It's sad that in this 21st century, there are educated and smart women who still fall for such nonsense. The lady had accepted to live a secretive life with the boyfriend, meeting him only at night, and keeping quiet when his wife called.

It's time for women to stop falling for cliché lines from married lovers. If you're getting involved with a married man who is doing everything possible to make your relationship a secret, then maybe you should be woman enough to accept and move on when suddenly you're left in a limbo.

Accepting these actions is evidence enough that you have waived all your rights to be in the light. That's the reality of being a side dish, and if you accepted all this while he was alive, I think you should hold your peace even in his death.
