Published on November 25, 2019, Kapseret legislator Oscar Sudi has expressed hope that the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report will address the alarming rise in killings in GEMA marriages.
Sudi, a member of the National Assembly, believes that the GEMA community should come together to deliberate on this pertinent issue, which has claimed several lives and continues to do so at an alarming rate.
He noted that the BBI report should also address the killings in marriages that are finishing friends in the Jubilee coalition, as he put it.
According to Sudi, the increase in killings gives a bad image of the community, which would ultimately translate into nobody willing to enter into long-term affairs with the residents of the area.
He emphasized that there is a need for the BBI report to look for ways and deliberate on the best actions to be taken against the offenders and recommend ways of overcoming such unwarranted eventualities.
Sudi expressed optimism that the BBI report will call on the GEMA community to show maturity and respect for human life, saying the unlawful murders were a serious offense and violation of human rights as enshrined in the Kenyan constitution.
