Meet Mr World Kenya Garissa County Mohamed Bade Abdullahi

Published on November 25, 2019

Model and fashion designer Mohamed Bade Abdullahi is making waves in the Kenyan fashion industry. As the reigning Mr World Kenya Garissa county, he recently showcased his collection at the JW Show 2019.

Abdullahi's journey to the JW Show began five years ago, when he first auditioned for the show. Although he didn't make the cut, he didn't let rejection discourage him. Instead, he used it as an opportunity to learn and grow. In 2018, he was a finalist in the Mr and Miss World Kenya competition, and it was after this show that the JW Show CEO, Jeffery Wilson, invited him to exhibit his collection.

Abdullahi's collection was a reflection of his Somali cultural heritage, blended with urban modern looks. He used different fabrics to create unique and eye-catching outfits. When asked about his inspiration, he said, 'I was trying to blend my Somali cultural heritage with the urban modern look in both the women and men's wear. The collection was designed from the Somali kitenge, also known as the Somali heritage outfit.'

Abdullahi's goal is to integrate the Somali community into the fast-expanding fashion industry in Kenya and create a face for his community in the industry. He believes that there is so much more that the Somali community has to offer.

As a registered company, Aqil Fashion House has been around for a year, but Abdullahi has been designing clothes for seven years now. He has showcased his collection at several events, including the Somali International Fashion Show in February 2019 and Modesty Fashion Week this year.

Abdullahi is not only a fashion designer but also a model. He has won several titles, including Mr Gretsa University 2014 and Mr Thika Town 2015. He is currently the reigning Mr World Kenya Garissa county and plans to audition for the Mr World Kenya 2020 competition.

Abdullahi's business management skills, which he obtained through his second degree, have helped him run his company effectively. He believes that his passion for fashion and his business skills have given him the tools needed to succeed in the industry.
