As the Coast fans' patience wears thin, Bandari Football Club finds itself in a precarious position. Despite exceeding expectations locally and on the continent, the team's recent performance has left much to be desired.
According to Philip Onyango, a Fiba licensed basketball coach and qualified football referee, the team's struggles can be attributed to several factors, including squad rotation and man management.
Onyango, in an open letter to Bandari Coach Bernard Mwalala, emphasizes the importance of rotating the squad to keep players fresh and competitive. He notes that the team has not done well in this regard, with the same players being fielded week in and week out.
Onyango cites the example of goalkeeper Michael Wanyika, who only came to prominence after the departure of Faruk Shikalo. He appeals to the coach to try rotating the squad by fielding players such as Alex Luganji, Patrick Mugendi, and Danson Namasaka.
With 30 talented players registered in the roster, Onyango believes that there is potential for discovery and growth within the team. He urges the coach to give other players a chance to shine, just as Abdullah Hassan, Felly Mulumba, and Willy Lugogo have done in the past.
