On November 24, 2019, a devastating house fire claimed the lives of a family of four in Nyunzu market, Makueni County.

A 49-year-old woman, Regina Mueni, and her 27-year-old daughter, Faith Mangeli, tragically succumbed to burn injuries in the 4 am incident.

Regina's two young granddaughters, Angel Masava, 5, and Amelia Masava, 2, also lost their lives in the fire.

Hours after the attack, furniture and household items were still burning, leaving behind a scene of utter devastation.

According to Makueni County Commissioner, Mohammed Maalim, the incident was a clear case of arson, with a strong smell of petrol on the smouldering debris.
