On a thrilling weekend in the 2019-20 KRU Championship, Strathmore Leos and Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST RFC) continued their dominance, securing 100% records in the league.
Leos saw off South Coast Pirates 57-0 in Nairobi, while MMUST beat University of Eldoret Trojans 22-3 in Kakamega, marking their fifth consecutive wins and solidifying their positions as the only unbeaten sides in the league.
Strathmore Leos, a former Kenya Cup side, currently lead the standings with 24 points, three more than second-placed MMUST and captain Gabriel Adero has made clear their intentions of returning to Kenya Cup by promising to continue their fine form.
"We started the campaign on a high and we are working towards keeping it that way. We are, however, going to be cautious since every team is strong in the championship," he said.
Mean Machine moved to third in the standings with 16 points from their third win in the championship after thrashing Mombasa 40-9 at the University of Nairobi Grounds.
USIU captain Eliud Mulakoli expressed confidence in his team's ability to bounce back, stating, "We are slowly picking the pace and I can promise we will get up the table with time. It’s still early to predict and we are ready for the challenge," after being held in a 14-14 draw by Egerton Wasps.
