On Sunday, November 24, 2019, Gor Mahia solidified its position at the top of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) table with a 2-0 win over Bandari at Mbaraki Grounds in Mombasa.
The two goals, scored by Samuel Onyango and Francis Afiriye, came either side of halftime and were enough to give the visitors a commanding lead on 24 points after nine matches.
Bandari, on the other hand, struggled to find their footing in front of goal, with William Wadri missing a penalty in the 57th minute.
Speaking after the game, Bandari's head coach Bernard Mwalala acknowledged the team's struggles, saying, 'I can't accept; everything is not right, we need to find the problem plus the solution.'
On the other hand, Gor Mahia's tactician Steven Pollack expressed confidence in his team's performance, saying, 'I am facing Bandari for a second time; I beat them at Machakos in the Super Cup but I had to confirm it today.'
