Published on November 24, 2019, a parliamentary committee has ordered a fresh survey of land held by Del Monte Kenya in Murang'a and Kiambu counties.
The National Assembly's Lands Committee wants the ministry of Land to conduct a resurvey of all land held by Del Monte within 90 days.
According to the committee's inquiry report, the Director of Survey, ministry of Lands and Physical Planning, should resurvey the land held by Del Monte in Murang'a and Kiambu counties within 90 days of tabling the report.
Parliament has also directed the National Land Commission (NLC) to investigate the circumstances under which Del Monte acquired four parcels of land measuring 7,400 acres.
The four parcels are said to have been surrendered to the Government by two companies trading as Sassa Coffee and Rappit B Limited.
The move follows a petition filed by Philip Njuguna on behalf of Kandara Residents Association, who asked Parliament to investigate the irregular renewal of leases of land to Del Monte Kenya Limited.
