Manchester United's pursuit of Erling Braut Haaland has hit a roadblock, with Red Bull Leipzig having first refusal on the 19-year-old Norway striker.
According to reports, the Bundesliga outfit has a contractual tie-up with Red Bull Salzburg, Haaland's current club, which grants them first refusal on the teenager's services.
Haaland, son of former Leeds legend Alf-Inge, has already bagged 26 goals this season, making him a highly sought-after player in the transfer market.
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had identified Haaland as his top target for the January transfer window, but it seems that the Red Devils will have to look elsewhere.
Leipzig sporting director Markus Krosche has already spoken highly of Haaland, suggesting that the teenager could be a great addition to their squad.
Haaland's father, Alf-Inge, has also suggested that a spell in the Bundesliga could be the perfect stepping stone for his son before making the jump to the Premier League.
It remains to be seen whether Manchester United will be able to sign Haaland in the future, but for now, it seems that Red Bull Leipzig have the upper hand.
