On December 7, 2012, Kamkunji MP Yussuf Hassan was wounded in a grenade attack in Eastleigh, while he was convening with his constituents after prayers at the Hidaya Mosque.
According to reports, Hassan had been targeted by anti-peace elements due to his work with the Kamkunji Constituency.
Richard Chacha, a veteran journalist, was involved in an accident in 2012 that left him crippled from the waist downwards.
Another notable survivor is Ziwani/Kariokor Member of County Assembly (MCA) Millicent Wambui, who was the only lone survivor in a grisly road accident that left four people dead in 2017.
Wambui was airlifted for specialised treatment to Nairobi in critical condition and is currently in hospital receiving treatment.
Musician Nameless survived a grisly accident in 2003 while coming home after a concert in Nakuru, which claimed the life of E-Sir.
Speaking about the accident, Nameless said, 'I did not know from the time I was taken to hospital when it all happened. I was told he was in a different hospital. I had no phone or other way of reaching him. My bro came from Nairobi. I asked everyone and no one told me. My brother is the one who told me, ‘E-Sir didn’t make it. It did not sink in, like you know you were with someone and then you are told they are no more, it cannot sink in.'
World record holder David Rudisha was travelling home to Kilgoris in Western Kenya when he lost control of his SUV after a tyre burst, the BBC reported.
Rudisha wrote on Twitter, 'Thanking the Almighty God for the gift of life,' accompanied by a picture of his mangled car.
He tweeted, 'Saturday night around 1030hrs I survived a tragic road accident at Keroka on my way home to Kilgoris after a head-on collision with a bus plying Kisii Nairobi Route. I am fine with no injuries! Thank you for your prayers.'
Chief Justice David Maraga and his wife Yucabeth Nyaboke were involved in a road crash at Ngata area in Nakuru County in December 2018.
