On November 19, 2019, police officers raided a brothel in Ruaka, rescuing four teenage girls who had been working in the sex den.
The brothel, located on the seventh floor of a nine-storey building, was linked to a former Cabinet Secretary and had been operating for nearly a year, costing its proprietors Sh60,000 per month.
According to investigators, one of the teenage girls had disappeared from a secondary school in Kiambu two months prior to her rescue. She had been recruited by a friend who promised her a lucrative deal, only to find herself entertaining up to 10 men a day.
Police recovered sex toys, condoms, and other evidence of the sex parties, which had been imported illegally into the country.
Three suspects, including a 44-year-old man believed to be the brothel manager, were arrested and charged with seven counts of sexual offences. They were released on a Sh1 million cash bail.
