Pressure Mounts on Raila Odinga ¶
Supporters of the Tangatanga faction are urging Raila Odinga to step down from Kenya's politics, citing his loss in the recent elections as the source of the chaos.
They want the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report to recommend that Raila Odinga exit the political scene.
On November 26, 2019, the BBI report will be officially submitted to President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga.
During a visit by Deputy President William Ruto to Laikipia County on November 23, 2019, Tangatanga supporters expressed their concerns, stating that Raila Odinga's refusal to accept the election results was the cause of the chaos.
They also claimed that they have no issue with changing the constitution to give some leaders positions in the government.
However, Laikipia Women Representative Cate Waruguru countered that the BBI report should prioritize the needs of women and the youth, or else it will fail.
Deputy President William Ruto emphasized that Kenyans should not be forced to accept the BBI report without being given the opportunity to read and make their own decisions.
He also praised President Uhuru Kenyatta for giving Kenyans the chance to contribute to the BBI process.
According to Ruto, the BBI report should be taken seriously and respect the opinions of all Kenyans.
The BBI team is expected to submit its report to President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga on November 26, 2019.
After that, the report will be made available to the public, and President Uhuru Kenyatta has promised to ensure that all Kenyans have access to it.
