Manchester City Defeats Chelsea 2-1 in Premier League

Published on November 24, 2019

Manchester City's victory over Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium marked a crucial win for the defending champions in their quest to retain the Premier League title.

The Citizens' win, which came with a score of 2-1, saw them displace Chelsea in the third position on the log, trailing Liverpool by eight points after 13 EPL games.

The match began on a slow start for Manchester City, allowing Chelsea to grow in confidence in the early minutes. However, the Citizens eventually found their footing and took the lead in the 29th minute through a deflected goal from Kevin De Bruyne.

Belgian attacker Kevin De Bruyne's goal was followed by a second goal from Algerian star Riyad Mahrez, who doubled his side's lead just seven minutes to half time. Mahrez's goal handed Manchester City the lead for the first time in the game, and they took a goal advantage into the dressing room.

Chelsea's Frenchman N'golo Kante had opened the scoring for the away team in the 22nd minute, but Manchester City's comeback was too much for the Blues to handle.

Manchester City's win over Chelsea has now set them up for their next Premier League fixture against Newcastle United at Saint James Park.
