On November 19, 2019, police in Kenya conducted a raid on a sex den in Ruaka, rescuing underage girls who had been forced into prostitution. The operation was linked to a former Cabinet Secretary, who allegedly used the property as a brothel.

According to investigators, the girls were recruited from secondary schools in Kiambu, with some being promised up to Sh10,000 per day. However, the contract was later revised, with the girls receiving only 25% of the payment, while the operators pocketed 75%.

The recruiters had a bias for light-skinned and slim girls, and their target was secondary schools. The girls were forced to entertain up to 10 men per day, with some being taken to the homes of their clients for a night of pleasure.

Police recovered sex toys, condoms, and other evidence of the sex den's activities. Three suspects, including a 44-year-old man believed to be the brothel manager, were arrested and charged with sexual offences. They denied the charges and were released on a Sh1 million cash bail.

The case is ongoing, with the prosecution seeking to prove that the suspects allowed minors to remain in their house and be abused sexually.
