November 23, 2019, marked a thrilling day at the Etihad Stadium as Manchester City returned to winning ways with a 2-1 victory over Chelsea.

Chelsea had been on a roll, securing six consecutive wins, but Manchester City's determination paid off as they kept Pep Guardiola's side nine points behind leaders Liverpool.

The match was a closely contested affair, with Chelsea looking the more enterprising side in the early stages. However, Manchester City's defense was breached in the 22nd minute when Mateo Kovacic's superb pass found N'Golo Kante, who cleverly slipped the ball past Ederson.

But Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne was not to be outdone, as he brought the champions level six minutes later with a low drive that took two deflections before finding the back of the net past Kepa Arrizabalaga.

The second half saw Riyad Mahrez seal the win for Manchester City, driving a left-foot shot into the far bottom corner to make it 2-1.

Chelsea nearly put themselves out of the game two minutes before the break when Kepa gifted the ball to Sergio Aguero, but the Argentine's shot from distance crashed off the bar.
