On November 23, 2019, a disturbing video surfaced showing a male employee physically abusing a female cashier at Eastmatt Supermarket in Kajiado.
The retailer has since confirmed that the man in the video is indeed one of their employees, a supervisor who has been suspended pending further investigation.
According to a statement released by Eastmatt, the cashier was receiving treatment for her injuries, which were sustained during the assault.
The company condemned the incident, stating, "We as EastMatt condemn and do not stand for such heinous acts of disrespect against our staff more so women. The individual in question acted solely and has since been suspended with a report officially being filed at Kajiado County Police."
Witnesses described the assault as brutal, with the man slapping the cashier, pulling her by the hair, and hitting her head before a bystander intervened.
